![]() The Hangman is a powerful short movie that has found a cult audience as a parable for our times. Based on a poem first published in 1954, written a few years before by Maurice Ogden, it was turned into this powerful short movie after Les Goldman heard a reading on Los Angeles radio. Goldman was a lifelong production manager during Hollywood’s golden age. He died at 70 in Santa Cruz, California, back in the 1980s. Goldman’s son says his father’s imagination wouldn’t let go, and he pursued making this movie, raising a hundred or two at a time from people he’d shared his vision with.
